it interested me that 'cosmos' means not only 'the universe', but also 'an ordered and harmonious system; the opposite of chaos'. the two meanings seem contradictory at first - how can the random overwhelming chaos of planets, stars, galaxies, and life also fit into a word that means 'order' and 'structure'? and how can you show that in a face, which is chaotic too - spotty, freckly, and most definitely asymmetrical?
