this, along with my typing and writing skills, paid for my bachelor's degree, my law school attendance, my sisters' college/university education, my first apartment, my first trip abroad, my first camera, and lots of books to read.
i prefer to use this than the dicta machine. at the office, i'm the only assistant who does not use the dicta machine. i'd get dictation straight on to keyboard or use my steno pad. although i've not used my steno skills in more than 20 years, these came rather easy to me today. it's kinda like riding a bicycle.
Great use of your skills. Very well written. I can even read it, although it took a minute to think in shorthand again. I always used it when I was working.
Stenography is a fascinating mystery. Well done! I can't read it so it could just read "DD is a a**h***" but it's fascinating nonetheless ;) @summerfield
I did try to learn shorthand at one stage but then my typing got so fast, I didn't need it. A wonderful skill and would have been the best in lectures!
OMG, I can still read it! Beautiful writing, and wonderful memories. I loved written steno so much I became a machine writer (court reporter). Wonderful image, I love it.
@summerfield there it is! The 'no. 2' of the vote :) beautiful photo Ms. Vikki, I love your expression and the depth within your eyes... I'm curious about what your stenography says, I can't lie. @domenicododaro hahahaha I am most certain that's not what it says!!!!!! :) :) :)
@kerosene - it's gregg shorthand which i learned in (holy smokes) 1971!
the first line reads "the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog."
second line "now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their Mother country."
third line "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
the first two lines are basic typing warm up lines, the first line having all 26 letters of the english alphabet.
the next three lines are just a repeat of the first three. :-)
