It was misty this morning as we set off to pick the sloes for sloe gin. Then the sun came out as we walked back along the riverbank. Such a lovely relaxing day with lunch outside in the courtyard and the sloes are now relaxing in their jars of gin!
I don't know what a sloe looks like let alone why it goes with gin! Must investigate as there is nothing so nice as a gin on a riverbank ! Cute wee dilapidated hut too!
@maggiemae@kimdavis@nitrogene Sloes are the fruit of the blackthorn bush. You can't eat them, too bitter. However if you prick them, put them in a jar, add a little sugar, fill up with gin, turn occasionally (over 3-12 months), strain and add more sugar to taste you have the most delicious drink. Mum and I used to share a tipple as a pick-me-up and it certainly worked.
