It's hard to believe that a year ago this was an old hand-milking parlour (in my grandfather's day)and cattle shed, and this terrace was part of the farmyard. Big changes, but I hope the ancestors approve. The reflections are my brother's farmhouse.
How lovely to have a place with so much history. It looks like your brother has been doing a very sensitive job of transforming it to the modern day. How lovely.
@cottiac Yes, this is the front of the of my new home. I have two original walls left but the rest are all new. My brother's farmhouse is listed so we were limited as to what we could do with the outside so part is timber clad and old local stone. It looks amazing. Like you, there were timber beams inside but they wouldn't have been strong enough to support a slate roof so they have been replaced with oak beams which has kept the character of the old farm building. I feel very lucky to live in such an amazing building which has so much history with my family.
Good luck with your build - it's very exciting watching it come together. Take lots of photos because you forget some things and it's great to look back through them. I'm sure you will love your end result. Look forward to seeing your cow shed journey!
@flowerfairyann Thanks Ann - it's just single story and fraid budget hasn't stretched to doing things properly but we are trying to make sure it doesn't look a bodge job! First fix of electrics tomorrow! Thanks for the follow by the way :-)
