These are self seeded poppies from the pack of wildflower seeds from the Wildlife Trust last year. I can see other wildflowers coming through too. The bees are loving them already.
The rooks have fledged from their nest in my brother's chimney today - lots of raucous noise and excitement from them - and a green woodpecker visited my garden at tea-time.
poppies just scream 'countryside!' I love them, I've had loads in my garden the last few years, constantly self seeding, but strangely this year we had none! Not a single one, not a sausage! I wonder why....They've all gone to live with you! Your picture is so very pretty.
Lovely! I haven't planted last years yet! I was hoping to moved in months ago and done things with the garden so I'd be ready to by now but that didn't happen... I'm now tempted to just pick a patch and scatter them and see what happens. If I change my mind about location, I can always scatter more another time in a different spot!
I love the poppies against the dark background of the house.
We have loads of poppies too and I hope today's shot with bees all over them comes out well.
