These carvings of animals can be seen on the roof of our local church in Burwell. Some creatures are recognisable, such as the deer. Others are very strange, weird and wonderful. Not easy to take as the roof is so high but we managed to snap these this morning.
Quite likely that some of the creatures carved had NEVER been seen by the carver, so he/she guessed what they probably looked like. Amazing for the 1400s.
