Cooked artichoke

This is the cooked up version. Boiled in water until tender and eaten with a dipping sauce of olive oil and vinegar salt and pepper. The leaves have fleshy bits but they are a messy vegetable and have a strong fruity aroma when cooked.
I tried this just once, as a teenager on a school trip to France. I didn't like it, but you've just convinced me to try again.
