Witch's Butter by francoise

Witch's Butter

Thank-you Louise for telling me the name of this pretty little fungus. Came across the exact same fungus I had tried to photograph a week or so ago. Not by accident, I think as one follows routes through dense woods that a followed by deer or other. You think you're traveling at random, but the woods lead you places.
Happy 84: Visited G's "thank god the holidays are over party", the one she has had in January for the past 20 years. Saw lots of people I only catch up with at this annual event, people I've known forever. In the same way that this picture revisits my first photography love, yesterday involved revisiting.
Very educational and fascinating too! Love the composition and the bright pop of color! Nice over all detail, Francoise!

Great capture and interesting fungus! Did you mean me above or another Louise?! I don't remembering identifying this for you but I don't always remember as I identify a lot of things!

It has an odd shape but fungi often do - not balanced! Very pretty colour!

My initial thought was, "amazingly translucent!"...and then there was the name! How fitting and that I wasn't the first to notice that! haha!

They look like mini-ghosts emerging from the fallen tree. Very very cool! Well spotted.

I love the idea behind that end of holidays party. The fungus looks quite mysterious.

I like that even in the depth of winter there is new life to be found born of last season's decay... isn't Ma Nature wonderful?
