Weeds and Flowers

I thought about taking a break from 365, but just can't quite do it. So. Why not? New month, new project: May garden and thoughts. However, restricting the photography to the garden is not exactly one of those restrictions requiring lots of creativity like the projects a number of 365ers gave themselves in March of this year. They did very challenging things like photographing a single tree or even a single object like the kitchen sink! This isn’t that kind of restriction at all because my garden has so many sections, different zones. It’s a mini-universe, though the zones might have a major commonality: green and growing out of control, except perhaps a pitiful row of malingering spinach, I hope in wait for a growth spurt to come. No, the restriction is more along the lines of living at home, living in my garden. I had tried to not schedule anything for this month. No teaching. No course-taking. No traveling. No outside world projects. Though, my mind is of course generating home projects in what is probably a predictably wild and out of control manner. Why not paint the living room? Plant the vegetable garden? Reorganize the basement? Go back to reviewing every book I read? Etc. Then it turned out that in order to get a good professor in the one remaining course in my program, I have to take it this summer. And some friends and I might go up to New York to see the new Gulliver’s Landing. And …. But whatever I actually end up doing, there is no doubt that I'll be around the house and garden a lot. I've never taken many photos in the garden for some reason, so maybe it's about time. It’s probably about time I did something about the bed in this picture. It’s on a slope and is quite the mess with burdock and goldenrod growing in and under and around everything else. In past years I've pulled and dug and weeded, but here after only a month or so of growing, the resident weeds are back in full force. The only solution might be to uproot everything, but I hesitate. And there is so much else to do.
Your garden looks so full, I'm surprised that any weeds grow at all! Whatever you choose to do - as long as you are happy thats all that counts!

I like your "mini universe" concept. I think you might have a good amount of material to work with.

Your garden looks healthy weeds or not :).

Sure looks like this garden is over-populated and the thickness is enough for me to say, "oh, wait until next year".

be nice to look around your burgeoning patch as my garden starts to die down for the winter

In my semi-retirement I have less people interaction so my 365 serves me well in this aspect and gets me out of the house to take pictures so I am staying. You are much busier than I am. Good luck with the challenge of staying in the garden especially if you get the rain like we are getting.

I enjoyed your commentary and the lush greens of your image.
