South End, Cathedral of the Sacred Heart

This image is the inside looking out of the middle rose window you can see in my second album tonight. http://365project.org/frankhymus/work-in-progres/2013-04-29

Flanking the rose window you can just make out the cases of two divisions of the organ facing each other. The placement doesn't do the greatest for a reverberent mass of sound, not facing down the nave on a back screen as they would be with a typical Cavaille Coll organ in a French cathedral. But such a placement does significantly obscure the rear window and other detail, and that is certainly not the case here.

Technically, I drove the White Balance from the incandescent lights, thus leaving the natural light through the stained glass very cool. These dual WB effects in many church vertical shots, cool on top and warm underneath, I find very evocative.

As always, view big gives you nice detail.
Frank, what a awesome shot. Wonderful lighting, and the stained glass is awesome. Fav

When I get back to the Jersey shore this summer I need to visit all these places you have been sharing. This cathedral is extraordinarily beautiful. The stained glass window is gorgeous. Fantastic capture.

@sjwyatt30 Sanda, thank you for the fav. The light actually was a bit of a challenge. You will see I was shooting with a very high ISO. But courtesy of Photoshop and ACR, it all turned out rather nicely.

@nadaa Nada, thank you for the fav. I am glad you like this image.

@anazad511 I do hope you will get to see some of the wonderful sights in New Jersey this summer. It is sometimes forgotten by visitors to the area with NYC and Manhattan so close. Which of course are wonderful as well, of course. Manhattan especially.

@nicoleterheide @sangwann @hjbenson @digitalrn @helixconcepts @tonydebont @masosy @jodimuli @islandk8

Thank you everyone for stopping to look and your encouraging comments which are always appreciated and welcome. Suggestions and advice too, of course.

@frankhymus thanks Frank. I lived in NYC for many years and love it, but now I'm trying to cover some other jewels in the area.
