I know another picture of the viaduct looking the other way. But the sky in this was too good to waste. Probably post a picture of Pen-y-Ghent tomorrow to complete the 3 peaks. Not that I've walked them all in the same day ever. Done different combinations of 2 and thats pretty knackering. Maybe one day when I get fit...
Lovely sheep in extras:
Another incredible image! I've been so impressed by your images, it made me curious about the camera you've been using. I started a discussion about it yesterday and was curious about your thoughts - and about what lenses you have or would recommend. http://365project.org/discuss/general/10720/backup-camera-thoughts-on-micro-4-3s
gorgeous sky - I managed to miss out Pen-y-Ghent twice - walking the Pennine Way, it's still on my list to do. First time I was sent to hospital to get the infection where my pack had rubbed sorted out - penicillin and tetanus jabs and a rolling of eyes of the doctors as I just headed back out to join the others. The second time it was that disastrous Fastnet Race and the storm that had killed so many people hit Pen-y-Ghent the day we were supposed to walk it. All the advice was to not go high, but to take the low route.
this is so gorgeous...the light up there yesterday really was fab - and that wisp of cloud is fantastic! I've tried to do the full 3 peaks, might try the Yorkshire 3 Peaks this yeat. Only ever done Ingleborough!
Beautiful shot, Alison. Been over it on the train and whizzed past it on a coach a couple of times but never had an opportuniuty to see it from this angle. The sky makes this shot super special!
Fabulous shot Alison. Love the snow covered peaks in the background and the warm colours from the sunlight. What a difference to the dull grey days we've had.
@sparkle Lets organise a 365 peaks trip. We'll get Rich some new shoes @rich57 ! Actually - the best walk from my experience is to skip Pen-y-Ghent on the same day and do Whernide and Inglebourough - its not too long - the views are amazing and you avoid the long bog from Pen-Y-Ghent - if you're up an a few weeks we could try it - there may still be snow.
Love seeing another angle of an historic site (probably one I will never get to visit in person)
... vastly different .. yet both are absolutely great... and I agree, the sky is iincredibly beautiful... wispy clouds and jet trails.
@judithg So anyway I have a long story about being a failed train spotter. As I left the valley I missed the turning - and then saw all these blokes with tripods lined up along the roadside. Had to stop to see what was going on- they were waiting for a rare steam train to come over. Decided to wait to get a shot but the light was fading. Anyway, eventually it arrived and just as I pressed the shutter the battery died! Just my luck, a totally rare train spotting event - sheep - snow - no shot.
@fueast But did you get the number in your train-spotting book? We once had to go and see a neighbour's wedding anniversary video which started with a steam train coming into the station and then worked through all of the cards (front view and then opened so we could read the greeting) and then ending with the train leaving the station - four hours of my life I'll never get back.... Just think if you'd got that photo you could have been hooked...
@judithg I've sent off for the schedule :-) Actually when it did arrive I thought it was a bit of an anti-climax. I hope those guys got some good shots because they'd gone out there specially for it.
I like this one even better than yesterday's. The exposure is very nice and even. And I love this angle of the arches. I'm always a sucker for repetition and diagonal lines!
@fueast steady on now...! now rum I have got in the house...wonder what I can put in it! Oh no, I can feel a spirits raid coming on! Fancying a port now!!
