Man O'Sea

The story of today is quite a long one so I won't bore you with it - but lets just say thanks to a nice man from the AA and some Asian blokes in a white van at a random garage I did finally see the sea - and a little bit of sun. Anyone know of a good campervan repair shop?

Really nice pic that.

This is a fab shot - sounds like a nightmare trip - at least you weren't in the middle of Italy when your camper van went - my neighbour nearly ended up divorced after that happened!

Wow!!! Stunning pic.

@rich57 Do you think it fits? Wasn't sure but thought I might as well try.

stunning! amazing b&w...
posted April 28th, 2012
@fueast I haven't had a proper look through his ouevre (is that how you spell it?) but it's b&w! Just noticed the GBs title too! Well almost anyway...

love this, looks awesome in B&W! It looks like it goes on forever....fav'd!

@rich57 Most of his beach studies seem to be people with not too many clothes on but we've not much chance of capturing that in April!

Liking this one a lot!

This is stunning in black and white, and the person in the back really makes the shot.

The solo individual in the massive expanse of space makes this shot. Awesomeness! Love it, love the b'nw. Fav!

This one a fav. The clouds look almost 3D. Lots of depth

@peterdegraaff Seems like the sea is the place for the new lens. Shame its 70 miles away!
posted April 29th, 2012
@fueast I think as you get feel for it you will use a lot more. I like way in other photo cliff is not distended so you are getting angles right.
posted April 29th, 2012
The B&W came out very well. Did you add a tone to it?
posted April 29th, 2012
I meant a filter, doh!
posted April 29th, 2012
@klemieux Thanks - no filter, it was three shots merged in photomatix and then converted into b&w using photoshop elements.

Instant fav!! The sky is amazing and your pov and comp is perfect!

@shutterbugger PLus I got a new lens :-)
posted April 29th, 2012
@fueast What? Luckyyyyy. Why have I always thought that you shot with a point and shoot? When I follow the link in your info stuff, it looks like one....
posted April 29th, 2012
@shutterbugger Huh! Its a micro 4/3 and I can actually use it in manual mode :-) Got a new wide angle lens because Peter made me (through jealousy that he had one as we have the same camera...). Bit pricey but what the heck.

posted April 29th, 2012
@fueast @shutterbugger like that this on PP too. And it is a beautiful lens too. Just about the only one I ever want to use.

Love the tones and amazing reflection.
posted April 30th, 2012
stunning alison. i love it! so this is with a wide angle? and do u use a tripod and take 3 pictures? i have heard about this but it sounds very difficult! like how does the camera not move if you change the exposure settings?
posted April 30th, 2012
@rach57 Yes its wide angle. I did take three shots - but not with a tripod. The camera has a bracketing option so you can fire off 3 shots quickly. Then photomatix tries to re-align them when you merge and you can play with the lighting setting. its not that hard. If your camera can bracket you can do it.

gorgeous, the figure makes this shot

Oh don't you just love it when vehicles stop doing what they are supposed to do and go from A to B?! Sounds like you had a tiresome day but this is a magical shot to end it on.

Gorgeous shot. Your short story reminded me of a scene from "Welcome To Whoop Whoop", where a driver promises a hitchhiker to take her to see the sea.
