Pub Grub

93 / 365
Spent all of last week getting sorting the builders stuff, all weekend sorting for the VAT inspection (not completed yet), so I needed a treat.
I was V tired when the nice lady from the government left, and hungry. Its turned cold today, and as M is in Switzerland, I had a late lunch/early dinner in this lovely old, warm pub.
Back to the paperwork tomorrow, I’m having this evening off…

Now that is what you call a proper fire !! I feel for you with VAT inspections I used to dread them coming even though it was never as bad as I thought & we only ever owed them more once in all those years !!

That is so cozy looking! I'm intrigued by those wooden benches in the alcoves on either side of the fire -- I've never seen anything like it. How old is this pub - do you know?

@klocean hi it's The George Hotel in Eccleshall Stafford, and was originally a 17th century coaching inn. It was listed by trip advisor as one of the top 10 places to spend St. George's day.. http://www.thegeorgeatwath.co.uk/pdf/top-10-george-hotels.pdf .

@klocean Oh yes, and the seats are from 17th century, this is called an inglenook fireplace..
1. A nook or corner beside an open fireplace.
2. A bench, especially either of two facing benches, placed in a nook or corner beside a fireplace.

@fungirlslim Thanks for the info! The design certainly looks like something before the age of central heating. :-). I just love old buildings! Now I'm thinking of all the people who must have warmed up on cold winter nights in those nooks.
