Pousadas

Like the Spanish, many old castles, monasteries and the like have been converted into hotels. The ambience of these is unique in each case. In Spain they are known as Paradors and in Portugal Pousadas. Rooms, and food, were generally excellent. The photo shows the last one we stayed in about 50 miles from Lisbon. On the way back to the airport we saw yet more storks and some flamingos. Things generally are much less expensive than in the UK. We were surprised that lunchtime food and coffee was FAR less expensive than the UK.
Sounds like you had a fabulous holiday.
