This male cardinal has been coming to my yard for a few years now and raised a few youngsters. He seems to be a fairly self-confident guy, but he does back off for the jays. After they took off yesterday, he came down to get his share of the nuts and seeds but seemed to be keeping a wary eye out for trouble.
@quietpurplehaze The jays and the cardinals are definitely the most colourful of the birds I see around here. Apart from them, the robins do have a nice rosy breast, but most of my other avian visitors are soft browns or greys although some do have pretty markings they appear rather dull compared to the birds I see posted here by others, especially it seems the ones from Australia or Florida.
