Makes me smile that the beautiful cardinal is waiting for more food! We could never put a feeder like this out, the squirrels would empty it in minutes!
But at some times of the day the squirrels tend to be less active ( maybe raiding feeders in other yards?) and I also have a few different ones so the birds can usually get at one or two before the seeds are all gone. I’ve got a squirrel proof feeder too but the cardinals seem to prefer eating off the flat open ones.
