Big Seed, Little Bird by gardencat

Big Seed, Little Bird

Tiny chickadee here. Must be my week for small birds. I'm pleased to get this because I find chickadees to be rather hard to capture. They are always flitting from here to there and never still for long enough. Maybe this one was slowed down by the size of the seed he was carrying.

What a dainty little bird. The buds give you a real sense of scale.

How precious! He must be a tiny bird—the buds are nearly as big as he is.

On my tulip picture that you so kindly shared a comment on, you asked about the season's slowness. Yes, things bloomed and greened up must later this year than in the past. I'm in Illinois where sometimes it's already too warm and humid by this point, but this year it's still very cool. We've seen little of the sun because of clouds and rain which I think has played into the slowness of the plants leafing out and also flowers lasting longer than usual. I'm definitely enjoying that part.
