Raise Your Words

Raise your words
not your voice.
It is rain that
grows flowers
not thunder.
...Rumi

Nice on black.
Lovely picture, beautiful words

The brightness of the colour of this lovely flower is so well set off by the darker background, great focus and lighting make for a satisfying shot. The words fit so well to the image and are a pertinent reminder

@fbailey Thanks so much! Glad you liked the quote too!

@365anne Thank you Anne. The flower looked so vibrant, it almost didn't look real to me. I didn't edit, change the color or process this other than soften the flower a bit. I had my iPhone on depth effect for the blurry background of the fence. I am glad you enjoyed the quote too.

Wonderful contrast of colour. I just wondered how it would look if you cropped the top slightly.

@sarahlth I would be fine in cropping it. I mostly fill the frame and/or center the subject so I was trying a bit of that negative space style. :)

Lovely flower and I do like the way it fills the frame.

@suzanne234 Thank you, Suzanne. I appreciate that. It isn't my usual way of framing but I thought I would give it a try.

@photobird @ribbet9 @olivetreeann @wendyfrost Many thanks to you all. I loved seeing this wild flower growing by the side of the road and against a fence. Thank goodness for depth effect on my iPhone. It makes all the difference, otherwise this is exactly what I saw.

Nice photo. Leave it to Rumi. He was a wise guy. Wasn't he. Always love the poems you choose to share. How do you find them?
August 11th, 2017
@mbrutus Thank you. I do collect quotes and have a library of books. I also find some online, which you may not want to do since our computer is now infected with a Trojan virus. :(
