End Of Watch by gardenfolk

End Of Watch

I have taken an oath
To serve and protect my fellow man
Guide me safely in my duties
To do the very best I can

Give me the ability
To stop those things that are wrong
To bring comfort and safety by restoring it to
Those to whom it belongs

And dear Lord, if like you, I am called upon
To give the ultimate sacrifice for the badge
I proudly wear upon wmy chest
Let it be said

I served it with dignity, honor, and love
And gave my very best

My son attended his patrol training officer's funeral today. He worked with him 3 years ago and came upon him five minutes after he was shot in the line of duty. A very sad day...

Many thanks! I truly appreciate your support and kind thoughts. My son has been a Deputy Sheriff for almost 11 years. He has attended 2 funerals in the last 3 years. :(

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of such a honorable man. My sympathies to your son and all his fellow officers. I do hope the department recognizes him for not only his sacrifice, but serving until his last breath. The prayer and picture are such a great tribute.

Thank you for sharing this with us CC. It is certainly a tragic thing when a life is cut short. Peace.

I appreciate your support. I worry about my son but this is his calling as it was for my father. My son wanted to go into law enforcement since he was 7 years old. @danette @olivetreeann @alex_g @yogiw

Came back by to see how you're doing. Such fine men serve in this fashion and I'm incensed once again to read (9-10) of the anti-fa who would attack policemen in Portland, Oregon. I could write volumes about my repulsion for the likes of such, but instead will thank your son and send my heartfelt condolences to the slain officer.
