How We Dance To It by gardenfolk

How We Dance To It

We can’t always
choose the music
life plays for us
but we can choose
how we dance to it.

Nice on black.

I can’t believe it was forty years ago when I took tap, ballet and jazz dance lessons from Vilma Ebsen. Yes, this is me. I danced for fun.

Thank you for your kind comments. Yes, this is an old photograph that I always liked of myself...those are rare and few. But, as you get older those old photos are seen through different and kinder eyes. I was beautiful but was too hard on myself back then. What was I thinking?!? :)

Thank you for your thoughtful comments and favs. Oh, if we only knew then what we know now...I would have had more confidence and taken more prisoners! :)

@seattlite @joemuli @chloette @ludwigsdiana @haskar

Many thanks to you! When they say, "don't waste the pretty" it makes more sense when you are older. We are always too hard on ourselves in the moment but there is no going back. :)

@kwind @bigmxx @milaniet @casablanca @olivetreeann

Thanks so much! I was a pretty girl but never really knew it. Oh to go back and do it over again I would have been happier and more confident! Don't waste the pretty! :)

What a gorgeous photo, and indeed, you're a beautiful young dancer! Your lament is much the same that we all have... ...had be only "known" and "believed" it! It makes us so badly want to change things for other girls, but I think we each have to make our own journey. You'd done a gorgeous job of post processing this, and it's truly lovely...much as I imagine you even today.

What a lovely image and the perfect processing!

@Weezilou So sweet of you, Louise. Thank you. Maybe you cannot see how pretty and special you were until you lose your youth...such a pity to be so hard on yourself and compare yourself to magazine covers, etc. Youth IS wasted on the young. :)

@edorreandresen Many thanks! I appreciate your nice comments. :)
