Katniss knows that I am leaving too. She climbs in my suitcase and knows that something is up. I spoil my animals so much and I know they will miss my presence and I will miss them...but they will be happy when I return.

Oh the cats most definitely know! I always take a last photo of a cat in the suitcase... On our return home today (23rd) Posh was waiting on the table for us when we arrived, Buttercap napped on my stomach shortly after we were home, and as I write, Tigger is asleep in my lap! I supose they're glad to have us back...and I missed them, too!
