Where We Came From

If we know where we came
from, we may better know
where to go. If we know
who we came from,
we may better
understand who we are.

I have been told that Montacute House was once owned by an ancestor of mine from the Phelips family. It was built in 1598 in Somerset England and it's part of the National Trust. The last time a family member went to visit Montacute House, it was back in the mid- 60's. It is open to the public from March to October. I do have a B&W postcard of Montacute House but I found something else, took a photo, edited and decided to post...in honor of the Royal Wedding and part of my history. :)
Supposidely the house was lost to taxes and a couple of the family members sailed off to America. I can’t imagine leaving this opulence to starting from scratch in a new land. Nice on black.
