My Katniss. My vet says that we do not choose our animals but our animals choose us. Therefore, I am not sure if I rescued her...or she rescued me. But, I knew nothing about cats before 2016, other than I grew up highly allergic to them and needed to stay as far away as possible. I didn't know what I was missing and somewhere along the way, I outgrew my allergy. Katniss stole my heart and now I love her just as much as my sweet doggie, Sophie Belle. They are friends too. I decided not to enter this in the competition...just a post for me.
What *beautiful* images, Cathee!! I can think of no cat I've seen recently that has eyes as magnificent as this! But it's the picture on the upper right that garners a huge smile! Looks like a guilty child in that one! Brilliant! β₯
@kgolab@merrelyn I never cared for cats either until Katniss changed my mind and I have now done a 360. She has opened my eyes to the gifts that cats have to give, including the purr. The purr can help promote good bone health and help fractures heal cleaner and faster. It can also help your body fight infections and reduce swelling in soft tissue. The purr also helps lower your heart rate, reduce your risk for cardiovascular disease, lowers blood pressure and helps prevent heart attacks. The general consensus in the scientific and medical world is that owning a cat will help you live longer, healthier and a happier life. I am all for that. Owning a dog has health benefits too so I have one of each! :)
@Weezilou Thank you, Louise. That upper right capture is one of my all time favorites as well! It reminds me of one of those cat clocks where the eyes move back and forth, like watching a tennis match. I caught her at just the right moment in time and it makes me smile! :)
@s4sayer Thank you, Margo. I think the differences are mostly in the lighting conditions. I say Katniss is a chameleon because sometimes she looks gray/black and sometimes tan/dark brown plus her eyes are different shades of green and sometimes each eye is a different color of green depending on what is reflected. She keeps me guessing all the time. :)
All great captures
I never get tired of cat photos :)
(Nearly forgot!)
