The Chihuly Collection is a stunning, permanent collection of world renowned artist Dale Chihuly's unique artwork. It was at the Morean Arts Center located in St. Petersburg, Florida. Nice on Black.
When I saw an advertisement in a Florida magazine, I wanted to see this exhibit before flying home since I love his vibrant glasswork. It was wonderful. This was one of the ceiling panels I walked under. I spoke to the Director of the Art Center and he said Chihuly has these panels in a portion of the ceiling in his home, similar panels in his swimming pool and his artwork on the floor of a giant fish aquarium. I bet his home is incredible. Two Chihuly large bowls were for sale at the art center at $50,000 and $52,000. Next time, I will venture across the street for the glassblowing demonstration as well. PS...I forgot to mention I took 136 photos at this exhibit so only choosing one photo was hard to do. I will need to post another Chihuly photo or two later.
I have now seen his glasswork in Tacoma, Seattle, Las Vegas, Catalina Island, St. Petersburg and the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento. I wonder where I will see his work next?
This is absolutely gorgeous! I have seen some of his pieces on display in Boston and a larger exhibit of them in Jerusalem. They are always fascinating. fav
