Catalina Casino

People want to come
to a local landmark...
they want to be
comfortable.
...Martin Klein

The Catalina Casino is the most visible landmark in Avalon Bay. Originally, the meaning of the word "casino" was a gathering place, a clubhouse. On May 29, 1929 the Catalina Casino was completed. It was built to serve as a movie theater on the main floor and a ballroom with promenade on the upper level. There was never any gambling in this casino completed by William Wrigley, Jr. and David M. Renton.

I have a charm of this even though I've never been to Catalina. Marilyn gave it in the charm gift exchange, maybe in Manhattan Beach? It's on my convention necklace. Looks like a cool place.
