Life is short
and unpredictable.
Eat dessert first!
...Helen Keller
Day 6 was a road trip! Sandy took me to Louisville for lunch at The Brown Hotel. I about froze as I got out of the car. It was 41 degrees (Real Feel 38 degrees) and windy! We met two of her long time friends and had a delightful lunch in the J. Graham's Cafe hotel dining room. Though I wanted to get a Mint Julep, the official cocktail of the Kentucky Derby since 1939, I was advised it was very strong. I ordered another drink called the Kentucky Derby instead. It had Bulleit Bourbon, Honey Simple Syrup and Pink Grapefruit Juice. Yum.
The Brown Hotel is also famous for The Original Hot Brown dish. It is Roasted Turkey Breast on Toast Points, Mornay Sauce, Percorino Romano Cheese, Tomatoes and Bacon, baked to perfection. The Hot Brown is a Louisville tradition that began in the 1920's. However, since I have not eaten meat in 27 years, I ordered the Portabella Mushroom Sandwich. Two Hot Browns were ordered at the table so I got to see what they were like.
The desserts were out of this world. We each ordered a different dessert so we could sample each others. I ordered the Derby Pie, another taste of Kentucky from the 1950's. It's the largest photo in the collage and was D-elicious!
You would definitely have to go with a group so you could try more than one - you took wonderful shots of each of them - Could work very well for a poster for them!
