So what, ghosts can't hurt you.
That's what I thought then.

At the end of Day 6, we checked in to the Old Talbott Tavern for our overnight stay. What an interesting place. It's a historic tavern built in 1779 and the oldest western stagecoach stop still in operation. The tavern is full of stories about Abraham Lincoln, King Louis Phillippe, Daniel Boone, Washington Irving, Stephen Collins Foster, Andrew Jackson and Jesse James who all stayed there. It is also suppose to be haunted. Luckily, we decided to stay in the newer section next door as the ghosts seem to prefer the original structure. We had a great nights sleep. The room was large, comfy beds and nice bath.
The most famous ghostly visitor is supposedly Jesse James. Another is the lady in white. They always appear as apparitions. The other stories include round balls of light (orbs) moving around the room in the middle of the night or flashes of light without cameras. More stories include movements of objects without any cause, such as forks and glasses on dining tables without anyone touching them. Also keys disappear from the front desk and show up on the floor down the hall. Furniture has been known to start jumping up and down without any reason. Some have seen shadows walk out of dark corners into the light before disappearing. Doors open and close when no one else is in the building, footsteps all hours of the night, knocking when no one is on the other side of the door and music playing and clock chimes during late night hours.
We enjoyed having dinner in the dining room with the two fireplaces. This is the room where the cooking was done in the original section of the tavern. There were thick Flemish bond stone walls, deep window casings and heavy ceiling timbers. Definitely an interesting fun place to stay.
Donât forget the twins that supposedly appear in the one room with the canopy beds I booked first!! Very smart for us to stay in the newer building!!
Beautiful shot
