Summer Cottage in Winter_107:365

This is our family summer cottage . . . in winter. The cottage is in the small community of Grand Marais located on Lake Winnipeg, about 100 km from the city of Winnipeg. My mother-in-law and I bundled up this morning and drove out to see the lake and cottage since I have never been there in winter. My mother-in-law's father built the cottage when she was 13 years old. She is now 96 and still enjoys spending her summers at the lake.
How wonderful. What a lovely thing to do .. looks good in winter.

That is fabulous summer and winter - what a remarkable woman your mother-in-law must be to still be enjoying this beauty.

Your M-I-L is an example to us all. What a lovely spot, would be just as lovely in winter (as long as there's plenty of heating!)

@helenhall Thank you, Helen! We did have a lovely time . . . we had lunch in one of the local restaurants and they were surprised to see us there in the winter. :-)

@milaniet She is quite remarkable! Fortunately she has bounced back from her recent health concerns and other than now using a cane, is doing great.

@maureenpp Thank you, Maureen! No insulation or heating at this point, only a wood stove. But my husband and I have insulation plans for the future because we'd love to spend some time there in the winter.

What a beautiful cottage. I think it would be wonderful to spend time here in each season. I imagine that the trees are beautiful in Autumn.
