Visiting with friends before we leave Texas . . . they have cucumber plants in their small garden and I thought the flowers were quite pretty. While I was shooting photos my friend gave me a quick gardening lesson . . . I learned that cucumbers produce both male and female flowers on the same plant. Each female flower has a small cucumber-shaped swelling at the base that will become a cucumber. I continue to be amazed at the bits of information I learn through this project.
