If you enjoy the fragrance of a rose, you must accept the thorns which it bears. ~ Isaac Hayes
I found this quote and it's ironic that it fits the events of today so aptly. I stopped by my mother's on the way home from work and she was thrilled to see me since she needed cough medicine for my stepfather, who has not been feeling well. After I returned from the errand and was leaving, I stopped to take pictures of the lovely pink roses and enjoy the fragrance. My mom noticed and said to go ahead and pick one to take home. But when I got home, she called to tell me my elderly stepfather had gone outside to pick her a rose because he remembered how much his mother enjoyed that rose bush and the fragrance. Since his balance is bad, my mom found him on the ground in the grass and, although he is okay, it was a scare which could have been a thorny situation. We should all remember to take time to stop and smell the roses . . .
For black and white Wednesday. Thanks for your visits!
Oops, I should have read everything before posting. So, may I add how much I appreciate the story you shared. Glad your elderly stepfather is o.k. And I agree with the Isaac Hayes quote - life is full of both beauty and thorns!
