Bond Bridge by genealogygenie

Bond Bridge

We had an outing Saturday night and met our youngest son and toured the office where he works. This interesting bridge was nearby, but I didn't realize it until almost too late and just barely got a drive-by photo.

Christopher S. Bond Bridge, Kansas City, MO, USA

Also know as the New Paseo Bridge, this is a cable-stayed bridge across the Missouri River. The bridge opened to limited traffic on Sept. 27, 2010 and all lanes opened on Dec. 18, 2010. The Bond bridge is a replacement for the Paseo Bridge and carries six lanes of traffic and one auxiliary lane for northbound vehicle traffic. The bridge is named for Christopher "Kit" Bond, the former governor and Missouri United States Senator. To give you some perspective on its size, note the semi with the orange cab to the far left. The design is similar to the John James Audubon Bridge in Louisiana, which is the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America.
Cool picture.
