La Cygne Barn Quilts by genealogygenie

La Cygne Barn Quilts

The town of La Cygne (named after the Marais des Cygnes River which is a French translation of an Osage appellation meaning "marsh of the swans) celebrated its 150th anniversary in May. Several businesses, families and individuals painted barn quilts to commemorate the milestone. I have ancestors who settled near La Cygne and several of the barn quilts were painted by relatives. *La Cygne is a town in Kansas, USA, and is about 50 miles south of Kansas City.
Very cool!
