For the life of me, I CANNOT figure out why cut up jeans is a thing. To me this just looks dumb, like she is saying .... "look at me!" Well, I'm looking, but I'm probably not thinking what she thinks I'm thinking!

I have thought the same thing. I have this thought go through my head whenever I see someone wearing them. I imagine their parents handing them a pair of ragged jeans while saying I am sorry but this is all we can afford and watch the child go ballistic and say something like, "Are you kidding me? Do you know what my friends will say and think?"
