Sleeping with weeds!

I love old cemeteries. I love the history. And I love the peace that most cemeteries provide. However I never understand how families/friends and/or owners of cemeteries (Governments!) can allow these places of respect to be overgrown, unkempt and uncared for. It's so sad. Who wants to sleep with the weeds?
Lovely.. b/w feels right here Sam. Cemeteries are peaceful places, but I would be happy to rest with weeds in an unkempt place. It seems fitting somehow. I don't want people sticking cut flowers on top of me in some neat and tidy space … although such practices are for the living not the dead, I suppose. To me over-tended ground smacks of human control freakery ... and that is disrespectful to nature.

@yrhenwr I kinda agree with David. If we are buried, we are back at our roots and surely back into the cycle of universe? Nature doesn't keep things tidy but she does keep things moving and alive.
Anyhoo, love this shot! Fav

Really suits B&W Sam, great shot, can understand graves becoming overgrown but the area surrounding the graves could do with a bit of attention :)

it always makes me sad to see such neglect. nice in black and white

I really like the composition and pov of this shot. The black and white enhances the feel that it's an unkept, overgrown and neglected area. Somehow I don't see that state as disrespectful, I see it more as time and nature moving forwards but that is just my personal viewpoint.

Wonderful composition with great choice of DoF. Love all the textures and the feeling, as Sally said, of moving back to nature.

weeds are wild flowers put of place, whilst I want to tidy this up, I can also see lots of wild life enjoying this place, which will make it a haven for nature

I'll take weed and grasses ver plastic flowers. Perhaps there are no living family left.

agree, old cemeteries are very interesting indeed. very appropriate b/w capture. I always feel so sorry for the ones that die very, very young, like children
