I have a "Whale of a Tail" to tell......

I came home last week to news that a whale had turned up at our beach and given birth to a calf..... you can't imagine how excited I was!! Spent time on the viewing platform over the day trying to capture what I could. her name is "Fang" due to the formation of the curved callosities on her jaw! She was here in 1995, 2004 & 2008. It is very late for a whale to calve in September. (usually June/July) The bottom 2 photos show how relatively close to the shore she is and in the last one you can spot the calf. Made my day :)

Sounds like fun. We go whale watching every year in Mexico and I get so frustrated trying to photograph them. So cool to see though.
