The callistemon flowering out my lounge room window attracted a new guest for breakfast - the Red Wattlebird. Luckily I got him this morning, as by 11am the cold, wet, windy weather set in - certainly not good for photos!
YES! great capture. We are in a bit of a grief state this week as we have watched a pair of red wattle birds nesting and finally one chick fledged about three days ago. It only lasted two days and we blame the Kurrawongs - rotten predators.
@flyrobin@jods@thistle Thanks for your wonderful words. I truly appreciate them :) @ethelperry I agree with you Ethel, the predator birds are nasty :) @otterz@francoise@barbarajdonnellan Thanks for great comments. The wattlebird is native to Australia. There are several types of which we have 2 around here. They are very noisy :) @gigiflower@tellefella Thanks. Yes I was so pleased I got him today (had tried for a few days but they are so quick!) before the weather changed! It's still windy here with showers and hail on and off :( @hermann@karlow75@cejaanderson Thanks all for kind words. They are a fascinating bird and so quick and noisy :)
@mbemis Thanks. I thought i was following you but when I went into your site I obviously forgot to hit the follow button! Will rectify that as I love your photos too :)
I thought that I was following you Denise. I wondered why I wasn't seeing your project in my feed and apparently I never pushed the follow button. Am following now!
I'm fascinated by this bird. Excellent capture of him stretching his neck to show off those two red dots. (are those the wattles?) And lovely soft background, too.
