Farming on the edge by gilbertwood

Farming on the edge

Being Melbourne Cup Race Day - the race that stops a nation, I went for a drive on a country road to find a horse. But instead I found this freshly baled hay on the coast! Never mind, every horse I back always loses anyway :)
I love seeing the baled hay scattered about the field waiting for the farmer to come load it up. This is a much better find than an old race horse.

Ah! Horsey sweet-rolls! (That's what my boys called them when they were little.) Beautiful view from this field.

This was a shot I wanted to get but never stopped in a round bail area. Very appealing shot. No betting eh. I go to Saratoga Springs race track for the summer races.

Lovely landscape capture, every time I see fields full of hay bales I'm always reminded of breakfast and Shredded Wheat.

Great shot of this lovely farmland and harvest. Like you tittle.

Nice capture. I love the fact that the bales are all facing in different directions and that there is a random pattern to the layout.

Is a wonderful capture of Hay bales for as far as the eye can see. I have always been a sucker for bale hay so fav for me.

Interesting composition, looks like it was a good crop.

I can never work out how they get the hay to grow into nice neat rolls like that. Must be a bit of GM going on. Nice shot Denise.

The field and hay bales seem to go on forever. Great composition.

I love the sight of fresh bales of hay too. Unfortunately around here lately they wrap them in white plastic which absolutely ruins the beauty of the country scene.

Wow...very awesome scene with the scene in the background.

@mccarth1 When it is wrapped in plastic it is silage not hay. Keeps some moisture in it so more nutrients for the cattle :)

Looks like a good year for making hay!
