Om Monday my sister and I set out to find more information about our father's heritage. We tracked down a long lost cousin (in her 70's) and her daughter who live in Kyabram and were a wealth of information! They also had many photos of dad's family that we had never seen. Hence I spent hours photographing their photos. Top left - dad's family minus dad taken prior to them leaving Chile. Dad was born several years later in Australia. Top right- my grandparents wedding. Bottom left- my grandparents as I remember them. Grandad lived to 96 and spent the last several years living with us. Bottom right- a painted photo of dad and his 4 siblings taken in the late 1920's.
I love studying this collage (especially that beautiful flapper fashion bride) and reading your explanations. Do you remember any remnants of Chilean culture through your grandfather? Charlie's family came from Denmark, and there are several remnants still; for example, "Ja," for "yes," many family recipes, names such as "Kirsten," relics such as an old family Bible, and affiliation with the Lutheran church.
Well done on the tracking down of lost relatives. So exciting to make contact to gain access to more family history - and of course meet new relatives. Great collage. :)
@pixiemac@susanalena@teodw Thanks for lovely comments. it was great to get so many photos :) @cejaanderson@kathiecb We don't have many relics of Chile other than some coins and paper work. My grandparents were actually born in England and both families moved to Chile when they were young. They married in Chile and had 4 children. When these children were ready for secondary school they decided to move to Australia for a better education. Several families came out together. @sheilag@mbemis@janiskay@peterlgrave@hermann@darthkitty@lindacarol@denisefuller@gigiflower Thanks all for great comments on this history collage. I now have to decide what to actually do with them! My sister is keen to create a book with the photos and the history :)
