Today the sea and wind were very strong so I ventured down to the mouth of the Hopkins River. As you can sea it is silted over and has been closed for several weeks now. I thought that the weather conditions were right to maybe open it again but I was wrong! The man fishing was having a wonderful time as he was catching a fish every few minutes as he is where the river ends. He's actually standing where the river should be! The council will monitor the river and will manually open it when they deem necessary if not opened naturally. The river is quite high back through the town. And also the juvenile eels (elvers) will need to swim out to sea this autumn - an important part of their life cycle :)
Those rare spots where the rivers join the sea are very interesting. Great capture of the man taking advantage of the closed mouth. The rocks, trees and distant sky all add to the beauty.
What a beautiful spot. We visited Australia a few years ago and loved it. Isn't it nice to see all the different parts of the world via 365? Some are remembrances of places visited and others places we've yet to see. Love this photo and a fav.
