The race that stops a nation! by gilbertwood

The race that stops a nation!

It was the Melbourne Cup (horse racing) on Tuesday - and a public holiday too. While I was waiting for my train home it was fascinating to watch all the people beautifully dressed racing to the designated race train. This is Southern Cross station in Melbourne, and it was quite cold :)
Amazing architecture and very colourful people. Hope they were warm enough as you say it was quite cold!

I bet they were all a bit chilly. At least it didn't rain this year. From memory of my years in Melbourne it was always cold on cup day.

I'm always amazed by the shoes. To my way of thinking stilettoes and grass, just don't mix. Throw in a few drinks and it could end very badly :)

I am always amazed at what these ladies wear & how they are willing to sacrifice their comfort....all in the name of fashion! I'd rather be warm & comfortable any day...lol
