Sadly this week Oddball died at the age of 15. Oddball was a Maremma dog that a local man, Swampy" instigated the dog to go onto an island to protect our little penguins. From all of this a movie was made in 2014 about the story. I was also a very brief extra in the film. Two of these photos are actually the true "Swampy" and the real Oddball. I have been fortunate to see them at the beach a few times.
Oh that is sad... we had a Maremma and he was a real character .. he died very suddenly and was only 8 years old .. we were told that it was not uncommon for them to die young... so at 15 he was a good age... RIP Odd ball...
Ah, sorry to see this. Always so hard to lose a pet, but even harder when it's one that is so special. Well now he's going to be protecting the penguins in heaven.
So sorry to hear about the passing of this lovely working dog. Is he, perhaps, the one you told us about with a book and items in his likeness in a gift shop? I hope I don't have the wrong...it's going on 1 AM and I may not be recalling correctly... You certainly paid him your best respects so that we here might as well.
@Weezilou You do have a wonderful memory! Yes, I posted a little girl looking at a beautiful painting of the dog. Also prior to that I posted a few photos of the filming of the movie too with the "actor" dog and actors seeing that I was on the set with them for a day :)
