With near gale force winds today, I headed to the beach trying to capture it. I then spotted these terns all facing the wind and decided it was appropriate!
OK...I now have the song, "Turn Turn Turn" running through my head! You could also title this "Shunned" or Tern Butts"! (Do you think it's time for me to call it a night and get some sleep?!) VERY cool photo, Denise...I've never seen so many birds that weren't sea gulls on one spot!
Interesting question Denise birds don't have to land into wind like aircraft but do tend to takeoff into wind but not always, suspect a brolly flying down the beach would help, lol:)
@craftymeg Sad thing here is it is still summer!!! @pcoulson Some were attempting to fly off but literally went backwards!! Would have been interesting to video them :) Lucky no brolly girls were there or they would have flown off into the never-never!!
Amazing shot! And now I have seen some real terns. In my sailing days one of the popular boats was called the flying tern, and I never knew what that was. Thanks for answering that long unanswered question!
