on Saturday I went to Geelong to watch the Geelong women's football team play their first game in the AFLW : Aust Football League - Women's. My daughter, Natalie is the assistant coach for this team and they won a nail-biting game by one point in front of 18,000 spectators. Natalie has given up her teaching career to focus full time on coaching this AFLW team and she is also the head coach for their Victorian team. The women are now breaking into a male dominated sport and all is going very successful.
Late in life, my parents developed a deep love for all women's sports at their local university. They joined with other dedicated groups. We too witnessed the growth in popularity over the years.
@gilbertwood Thanks Denise, are you going to either? Or both? If so, perhaps we could meet up or go together? I could manage either, but the Freo match would be simpler for our Saturday routine. Footy's much more fun with a friend. Haven't yet spoken to Les, but she's often too darned sore after golf to want to do anything else
@golftragic I'm sure we can organise something! I plan to go to both games and will possibly stay at Ben's place - your new neighbour! So we can definitely work out something :) @gigiflower You really think so??
( By the way, the Dutch Ladies are Europe champions.)
