A helmet saves my son by gilbertwood

A helmet saves my son

9pm Thursday I got a phone call that every mother dreads - my son had had a bicycle accident and was in hospital. His head took the full impact and he was concussed and having scans and an MRI. I went to Geelong Friday morning to help with his family and see him. Happily I can report that he has been cleared of any major injuries other than a nasty grazed face and one broken front tooth. He spent 2 nights in hospital and is now home. He has his personal nurse (daughter, Tilly) who fetched her mirror to help him apply ointment to his face. We are so grateful to that helmet!! So I hope all the 365 bike riders across the world wear helmets - living proof that they save lives :)
Oh my goodness what happened? Looks very painful!

Holy cow, that's a nasty hit he took. So glad to hear the damage was minimal and a great testament to the wise use of a helmet. Got to love the expression on personal nurse Tilly's face.

I love Tilly’s expression, she’s doing anything she can for her daddy. That’s really quite an injury to his face, oh my. All my grandchildren wear helmets.

The contrast between where the helmet was and wasn't really drives home your point. I hope he heals quickly.

And that picture sums up why I no longer have a bike!! Too many lunatics on our roads and too little protection on a bike. You must've had a terrible shock though, you poor soul.

Just catching up and what a shock to see this photo Denise. I’m so, so sorry but at the same time relieved that the outcome wasn’t worse. Hopefully he’ll be back to his handsome self very soon. Tilly is adorable.

A salutary lesson to all those out there that don't wear a helmet thank you for posting it as a warning Denise, hope its not caused him any lasting damage, btw, I always wear my helmet when riding anywhere:)
February 11th, 2019
Thank goodness he was wearing a helmet! I can’t understand why all bikers don’t wear them.
February 11th, 2019
Wow, thank goodness he is okay! I hate seeing people without helmets. What a sweet photo with Tilly helping Dad.
