I didn't know there were still first class carriages on trains anymore! That's a blast from the past for me. I travel London - Margate high speed or sometimes south eastern, neither of them have a dedicated first class carriage, just a few seats at the end of a regular carriage. @stephanies The Norwich/London trains usually have 2 whole first class carriages. They also supply first class passengers with free coffee/tea and snacks which is sometimes worth more than the fare difference, also reserved seats. I know what you mean though as I recently travelled on the Kings Lynn to London line. Different train company and first class was just a small section at the end of carriages and no free refreshments.
