Dunkirk Veterans Memorial

We visited the National Memorial Arboretum today. I took lots of photos and decided to put this one on.

My father was in the army during World War II and was among those evacuated from the beaches at Dunkirk aged 21. He was reported as missing in action but later found as he’d been taken to a hospital. He recovered (or I wouldn’t be here) and lived to age 87.

Dad was a member of the Dunkirk Veterans’ Association in his later years. He planned to visit the Arboretum but didn’t make it as he suffered a stroke in 1999 and spent the last 6 years of his life in a nursing home.

Harry Moore 1918-2005.
Good to have this memorial to the Dunkirk veterans. I was interested to read your dather’s story.
