Burnt banksias

Yesterday I put up a photo of the burnt-out banksia forest in the A-Z challenge. My son went with me to inspect the damage and decided to pose for the "B" challenge as a Bloke holding a Blue-tongue Beer in a Bushfire. He even wore a flannie and his Akubra hat (which he's never seen without, anyway) to look authentically Australian. I thanked him for his dedication, especially in forcing himself to drink the beer, but we both decided the shot I put up was more appropriate. I like this anyway, and it's a good closeup of the damage that was done to the banksias and of the way the bush is beginning to regenerate in the background.
Brilliant shot!

Thank you for yor nice comments. I never made the pop page before yesterday. For a few hours my fungi was there and now the sage. I'm thrilled. I love how you captured the bush and the "Aussie" feeling.

Incredible shot! So nice of your son to pose for this shot...know it must have been a difficult task, what with the beer and all! lol He's a good looking guy and looks very smart in his Aussie attire! Love that things are looking green there!

your son is very handsome and very Aussie looking...i love the hat! the trees are still beautiful despite the damage. thankfully even though we've had a very dry summer, we don't get too many forest fires. i live in new jersey which is called "the garden state" because we have so many grasslands and forests...plus farms and plant life. i guess we are lucky because we always have rain. places like california always have terrible forest fires.

re your comment: it's been a rough year for me, loosing my job in this terrible economy, having to put 2 kids through college soon...too many sleepless nights....the tequila is a good night cap...guess the bottle is a little empty, will be needing another one soon! (am just kidding, that bottle is 20 years old...i'm not much of a drinker!)

Great shot. Your handsome son looks very serious and intellectual, despite the beer bloke pose and flannel.

That's a superb shot & you have a nice son to indulge you in your photographic pursuits. It's usually harder to get the men in the photos.

Thanks everyone; his head will be turned if I tell him you all think he's handsome! But yes, he's a good bloke to pose for me like that. It was blowing a gale and freezing cold and he spent about 45 minutes striking different poses at different spots. So he deserved the beer!

Hi Robin good shot!
Did you know that fire is the only way that the seeds of the Banksias are released.
