Lilly Pilly Season by girlie

Lilly Pilly Season

I've been promising myself (and everybody else) to make lots of goodies from the lilly pillies we recently picked (see http://365project.org/girlie/365/2010-11-23 for information on lilly pillies if you're new to this). So, finally, here we are: clockwise from top left, the picking; the berry juice draining into a bowl; the boiling of the juice for the jelly; the scones I made this afternoon with lilly pilly jelly and cream on the bottom four and lilly pilly jam and cream on the darker coloured two; the berries boiling for the jam; jug and glass of lilly pilly cordial; jar of lilly pilly jelly. So that's what I've been doing for the past couple of days. The cordial, by the way, is super-delicious, especially with ice and mint leaves. Is also very good splashed into a glass of champagne or good white wine, which is how I'm having it tonight.
Happy New Year everyone!
Your whole photo is very appealing!

Looks very tempting, Robin. A lovely collage to show what you can do with LillyPilly. Can you just buy lilly pilly beries?
January 1st, 2011
@miraries Have never seen them for sale. I imagine they wouldn't keep for long once picked, although you can freeze them. There are huge amounts of them on all the trees around the place, though, so are there for the picking, so to speak.
