Battle to keep the dog in by girlie

Battle to keep the dog in

We have a short length of paling fence in our backyard that is badly in need of repair. Snakey has figured out ways of getting through, over and under this fence and out into the neighbourhood via the next door neighbour's yard that have necessitated the patching up of his various escape routes. I've used every spare bit of anything I can find lying around: bodyboard, old gates, broken benches, stepladder, pieces of pool fencing, bricks, rocks, chunks of wood, clothes hanger, old fridge shelving, etc., and finally a length of dog wire along the top. On the front gate, I've had to lean a big whiteboard at an angle that prevents him getting a hold and scrambling over. The other day I was looking at my handiwork and realised it reminded me of a BBC doco I once saw on the efforts of people in the UK to keep the grey squirrel out of their backyards! I'm trying to keep our dog in and so far have been unsuccessful. I think only a new fence is going to achieve the objective.
LOL! So you've used everything, but the kitchen sink? This sounds so much like something I would do! Great story telling collage! Snakey's trying to look all innocent. :0)

Great collage and looks like you have done a great job keeping your dog in!! Our fence blew over from all the wind we've been having, but have it back up and braced 'til summer.

Lol I have a similar method of fixing things!

his determination and the lengths you've had to take made me laugh

LOL that's one determined dog!

This made me laugh Robin - my daughter, on Groote Eylandt, is having a similar problem with her little dog. She says she's like a little rat - can squish through any sized hole. Hope you have some success soon.

Snakey, you are a houdini dog, please stop giving Robin headaches!

LOL. My back garden is beginning to look similar, not to keep the dog in but to try and keep the pesky rabbits out, they seem to burrow through everything and once the salad veg start coming up it's a constant battle!

You've got an escape artist, good luck.

Haha, wonderful. I think you've tried about everything!

Ha ha ha! Great story, good luck!!

Haha, this is how Snakey and Jason are different :-) don't know if you remember any of my backyard pics, but it's wide

open and Jason just stays there and watches people walk by!! Nice for me...:-)

Great collage! Cute dog and nice garden!

@marna Haha, you are so lucky you haven't got a dog that wants to roam. I do remember your backyard and it would certainly suit Snakey. He likes to swim in the nearby river, which is why he wants to get out all the time. But it's full of sharks and we want to keep him safe.

Lol doesn't look like there's much fence left Robin. You and Snakey have a good game going there :)

Funny! Houdini dog. The air is apparently sweeter on the other side of the fence.

That first pic of Snakey shows him laughing at your efforts to fence him in! :-) Great story and collage. Fencing is expensive! :-(

I often regret that I no longer have a garden, but it is ablessing not having to keep fences in order. Thank you for reminding me how lucky I am!

Lol! Great collage and story

that is great! I can so relate - we had to do a lot to keep that girl Ruby from running away. I think we've found all the escape routes. . .fingers crossed.

I don't see any duct tape! A dog as cute as Snakey can't be TOO mischievous.....
March 29th, 2012
@aikimomm I'm afraid looks are very deceptive in this case! Tried the duct tape but there's too much moisture in the air in this climate and it keeps coming away. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
