Red-flowering gum (Corymbia ficifolia)

This one is for Tony @tonyjsisti who said he is looking forward to the full-on view of the shot I posted a while ago at http://365project.org/girlie/365/2012-04-23 and also for Terry @sarasdadandmom who made the rash comment a few weeks ago that I'd soon be running out of flowers to photograph because we are approaching winter down here in the southern boondocks!
At this time of year the beautiful flowering gums burst into blossom. They come in all shades of reds, pinks and apricots and are a magnet for flocks of parrots that descend on them to squawk and squabble. They are a native of Western Australia but have been taken to many countries overseas for planting in gardens and parks. Looks good with the magnifier, by the way.
OMG I am in love. I have never seen anything like that before. The beauty of making a friend on the other side of the world. Gorgeous!

@cdonohoue That's a sweet comment, Cathy, thankyou. If you click on the various tags to the right you'll see some others that have been posted by me and others on the site, all sorts of colours.

@sarasdadandmom Oh Terry, I hope you haven't taken offence! I'm having a very gentle nudge at you with this and love the fact that you have unwittingly challenged me to feature flowers all year round. You are one of my favourite 365ers with your unfailing good cheer and witty comments. Thanks so much for the fave.
